The first thing you should do after moving into a previously owned home is check all appliances, heating and cooling systems, and water purifiers for filters that need cleaning or replacing. It could extend the life of the system, save you time and money, and protect the health of your family. Here’s more tips:
- Gross Refrigerator Filter
– Check the refrigerator filter if there is one. It should be changed every 6 months. A dirty, clogged filter can cause serious damage to your refrigerator and may be a threat to your family’s health. - Dust Covered Refrigerator Coil – In order to run your refrigerator efficiently, the coils underneath it must be cleaned regularly. It requires 25% more energy to run a refrigerator when the coils are covered.
- Lint Clogged Dryer – This is the number one cause of dryer fires. Manufacturers recommend cleaning dryer exhaust vents at least once a year for efficient operation and to prevent fires.
